Bambu Lab has just rolled out a quiet but powerful firmware update for all AMS-compatible printers (X1, X1C, and P1 series), introducing a feature called Auto-Reprint on Failure — and the community is buzzing.
When enabled, this new mode automatically restarts the last print job from the beginning after a detected error, such as filament runout, thermal spike, or power interruption. It’s designed to work in tandem with the AMS’s filament detection and built-in resume logic to reduce failed print rates during long or unattended jobs.
Early reactions from the community have been overwhelmingly positive. Users on Reddit and Discord say the feature has already saved several multi-hour prints that would have otherwise been wasted.
However, Bambu has been quiet on the rollout — there was no official blog post or major social media push, leading some to speculate that the feature is still in a soft-release testing phase.
Key notes:
Works with both local and Bambu Studio-initiated prints
Can be toggled on/off in firmware settings
Does not currently support SD card standalone prints
Appears to retry only once by default
This comes on the heels of their previous firmware upgrade adding filament jam auto-recovery, painting a clear picture: Bambu is pushing hard toward true print autonomy — and the competition is watching.
