Bambu Lab has just pushed a new firmware update for its Automatic Material System (AMS) in response to a wave of filament feed issues reported by multi-color printing users over the past few months.
The update (AMS Firmware v01.05.01.00) includes:
- 🧠 Improved material detection logic
- 🔄 Faster color change cycle time
- 🛠️ Bug fix for multi-slot switching failures
- 📦 Experimental support for non-Bambu spools (beta)
- 📊 Advanced logging toggle for debugging persistent feed problems
This comes after a growing number of A1 Combo and X1 Carbon users experienced random “spool not found” or “failed to load” errors mid-print — especially with TPU, matte PLA, and third-party brands.
Early feedback on the update is positive, with users noting smoother transitions and better reliability when running long multicolor jobs.
Bambu also hinted at AMS 2.0 being in early development stages, with more robust gearing and open filament compatibility on the roadmap.
