Prusa Research has just dropped the first official teaser for the Prusa XL V2, and it looks like a major overhaul is in the works.
Leaked early in a community livestream and later confirmed on the Prusa forums, the XL V2 will feature:
- 🧭 A true CoreXY motion system
- 🛠️ New multi-tool head design with independent switching
- 🔄 Reworked tool changer inspired by E3D Motion
- 🧱 Enclosure-ready frame with improved thermal regulation
- 🔍 AI-based first-layer inspection (in beta)
Unlike the current XL, which uses a modified belt system and modular heads, the V2 seems built from the ground up to compete directly with Bambu’s X1E and Voron Switchwire-style mods.
Prusa is also planning to ship it with an optional MMU 3.5 (Multi Material Unit) for high-speed color printing, and the unit may feature support for closed-loop stepper motors.
Expected announcement is Q4 2025, with beta units already in testing at select European print farms.
