The U.S. Navy is taking 3D printing beyond the workshop and into real-world operations.
During the RIMPAC 2026 multinational naval exercise, ships are using onboard 3D printers to manufacture replacement parts and mission-critical tools while at sea. Instead of waiting days or weeks for supplies, crews can produce many of the parts they need directly onboard, helping reduce downtime and keep missions moving.
This innovation demonstrates how additive manufacturing is transforming military logistics by making repairs faster, improving operational readiness, and reducing reliance on traditional supply chains.
The future of manufacturing isn’t limited to factories—it’s now sailing across the ocean.
