The Voron Design team has officially released the Switchwire 2.0 RC, marking the biggest upgrade to the CoreXZ-based printer since its original launch. Known for its unique belt-driven Z-axis and minimalist build, the Switchwire now receives major enhancements to performance, modularity, and ease of assembly.
🔧 Key Upgrades in 2.0 RC:
- New Orbiter 2.0 Direct Drive integration (optional)
- Dual MGN12 linear rails on X for improved rigidity
- Revised belt routing system to reduce Z-wobble
- Removable bed platform with optional magplate support
- Improved CANbus support for easier Klipper expansion
The Voron community has responded positively, with beta builds already appearing in Reddit and Discord channels. Builders say the Z-axis is noticeably more stable during high-speed infill and larger layer heights.
One notable change: 2.0 also introduces a standardized toolhead mounting system, making it easier to swap between the Stealthburner and the new lightweight CW1 printhead design.
