Prusa Research has announced the launch of the Original Prusa MK4S, a high-speed, CoreXY-based FDM printer that blends professional performance with the open-source ethos the brand is known for.

The MK4S achieves up to five times faster print speeds compared to the MK3 series, thanks to its rigid CoreXY frame, lightweight motion system, and redesigned hotend with improved thermal control. A next-gen load cell sensor ensures flawless first layers, while updated firmware introduces advanced input shaping for vibration reduction.

Prusa says the MK4S retains compatibility with its existing ecosystem, including the MMU3 multi-material upgrade, and supports a wide range of filaments—from PLA to carbon-fiber composites.

Industry analysts see this as Prusa’s direct answer to the speed race led by Bambu Lab, Creality’s K-series, and Voron builds—while keeping its reputation for reliability, open documentation, and community-driven development.

The MK4S is available for pre-order now, with shipments starting Q1 2026.
