In a surprise move, Bambu Lab has teased a new Carbon Fiber Extruder Upgrade Kit for its P1S and P1P printers — signaling a possible expansion into abrasive filament compatibility and more robust print heads for demanding applications.

While full specs have yet to be revealed, the teaser image posted on Bambu’s official WeChat account shows a redesigned extruder body with a dual-gear drive and a hardened steel filament path — optimized for carbon-reinforced filaments like PA-CF and PET-CF.

Accompanying notes hint at:

  • Improved filament grip under high speed
  • Swappable hardened gears and drive rollers
  • Enhanced cooling system and quick-change nozzle
  • Internal support for input shaping calibration routines

This would mark the first official hardware upgrade for the P1 series and a direct response to user demands for stronger materials support without jumping to the X1C.

Bambu has not yet confirmed price or release date, but several hardware beta testers have shared cryptic photos suggesting the kit is in final-stage evaluation.
